Discworld 2 Game Mac

06.02.2020by admin

NEWJan 22nd 2005Nothing much has happened on the Discworld game front. I've updatedsome of the details in the faq to reflect the problems people arehaving with Discworld and Windows XP. But to recap the Discworldsituation:You cannot legitimately get hold ofDiscworld 1 or 2 on any format unless you buy it second hand. E-Bay isyour best bet.Discworld 1, 2 and Noir have big problems running under Windows 2000 orlater.Perfect have gone bust a while back and hence there are no newDiscworld games in the pipeline. Nor will any of the bugs in Noir befixed.I'm not really updating this page often as I've kind of lostinterest in Discworld but given that graphical adventures are deadthese days I'd be surprised if a new Discworld game was ever released.April 3rd 2002Discworld Wrestling? I don't think so - the previous 'announcement' wasindeed an April Fool.

There are no new Discworld games on the way asfar as I know though given the way some licenses such as Star Wars andThe Simpsons have been pimped into every game format in existence, itcould happen one day.April 1st 2002Just when you thought the Discworld games series was dead, a newDiscworldgame has been announced - not an adventure title, but a wrestling gameno less! With a working title of simply 'Discworld Wrestling', the gameis being programmed by little known Kneebonian software company FoloInteractive. To quote Josykn Khing, the company's PR spokesman.' Folo Interactive are very proud to have been given this opportunityto create a game based upon one of the longest running fantasy seriesever, the Discworld series.

Initially we did consider creating a pointand click sequel to the previous Discworld games but thought this wouldnot do the Discworld series justice as there are already three suchgames. Instead, we sat back and took a long hard look at Discworld andat the most popular computer games of today and in a flash it came tous. Everyone likes the Discworld books, and everyone likes wrestling,so game that combined those two would surely be a smash!' Discworld Wrestling - again, this being simply a working title -will let you play as one of twenty initially available wrestlers withmore available once you have successfully unlocked them. These willinclude Rincewind, Carrot, Death, Foul Ole Ron and also Foul Ole Ron'ssmell who will be a separate character from Ron himself. The game isset to be released on the PC, Playstation 2 and Gamepark 32 on the 31stof November this year. Rest assured, this page will be the first withany further developments.

March 10th 2001There have been a couple of developments since the last update. Theformer, which isn't much of a surprise, is that the budget version ofNoir being sold by Infogrames for a tenner is just as buggy as the GTInteractive release. The second is that while Perfect may be dead and gone, thewhereabouts of at least two former Perfect members are known (the restpresumably working somewhere or other), having recovered from the doomof Perfect like the flying head of Dr Hill in Bride of Re-Animator.Chris Bateman has his own software troubleshooting company called - asort of A-Team for the games industry although they obviously do chargecash for this. He is also assisted periodically in this venture byGregg Barnett, former head of Perfect who also has his own gamescompany, Sick Puppy Games, though he has denied rumours that he ain'tgetting on no damn plane.

28th OctDiscworld Noir is now out on budget and can be bought for around atenner - although whether or not any bug fixing has been done remainsto be seen. 19th Aug 2000Well, it's been a while since the last update and still very littlehas happened on the Discworld front. Perfect have now definitely gonebankrupt, GT Interactive have been taken over by Infogrames, andthere's zero chance of a patch for Noir ever appearing. I've updatedthe game faq with a section on Noir and the fact that Discworld 1 and 2are almost impossible to get hold of. 29th Jan 2000Not all that much happened on the Noir PC front - Perfect / TeenyWeeny have disappeared from view, possibly bankrupt altogether, and GThave yet to produce any kind of patch. A couple of calls to GT's techsupport in the UK solicited the response that there was nothing wrongwith the game at all - which is clearly cobblers given the amount ofhassle people are happening.

Further more, when asked about the Windows95 installation problem, the tech stated there was a patch for this -and handed out a URL to this selfsame page - hmm. Noir should behitting the Playstation around now - though whether or not it's asbuggy as the PC version remains to be seen. 29th August 1999I've updated the Noir Fix which can be foundor in the files section of the main Discworld Game pages (I'll add afiles section to the Noir bit when I get time). Just unzip it usingPKZIP or WinZip and follow the instructions - to cater for Windows 95ausers who want to use Noir's minimum install (it doesn't fix anythingelse so unless you have Win95a and have found you can't install thegame, you needn't download it).And on another note, Perfect Entertainment are now bankrupt - thishappened a while ago, but I've only just got round to putting this up -possibly as a result of their legal shenanigans with Psygnosis a whileback.

On the upside, many of the staff and a lot of the company'sresources have been transferred to a 'new' company, operating underPerfect's previous name of Teeny Weeny Games, although about half ofPerfect's staff have been dropped or gone to seek employment elsewhere(apparently Gregg Barnett and Luci Black, the chief people behind Noirmay well have left). Good luck to both those still with TWG and thosewho have left - although it does seem slightly unfair that a companythat has produced several good games can go under while a company likeIon Storm who have produced nothing of any merit to date are stillhaving cash thrown at them (last time I heard) by Eidos Interactive.Hmmmm.15th August 1999Just a quick update - the Discworld Noir / Josh Kirby Poster offerhas now finished, so I've taken the banner down.28th July 1999And now for some good news and bad news. The bad news - if you'reone of the many people who own the original version of Windows 95, notOSR 2 or anything like that - the original unrevised version, you won'tbe able to install Noir using the setup program - there is a patchapparently on the way for this but it's not out yet.The good news is that I've knocked up a fix for this that will letyou install Noir as a medium install - and you can find out how to dothis or in the files section of themain Discworld Game pages (I'll add a files section to the Noir bitwhen I get time). Give me a mail if you have any problems with this.18th July 1999There's now a walkthrough in the hints section of the Disworld Noirpages, again one which will get tidied up a bit later when I have thetime.

Also, as you may well have noticed, there's a special offerbanner at the top of the pages, through which you can order a copy ofDiscworld Noir and get a free Josh Kirby poster into the bargain. Theoffer itself only applies to UK buyers of Noir as is, however, there isan email address to which enquiries about ordering Noir overseas can besent, and given that the company involved, Software First, does shipsoftware overseas, it seems likely that you will be able to get UScopies of the game. As yet, GT Interactive US seem to have made nomoves to sell or promote the game in the States. On the bug front, there have been reports of a bug in Noir. I'veyet to run into these myself on either of the two PCs I've played Noiron, but evidently a few people have encountered it. Apparently, sometimes changing the page in Lewton's notebook causes a crash, andhaving recieved lists of the specifications from a couple of peoplewith these problems, there appears to be no obvious reason why this ishappening.

If you do run into this, I suggest you contact GTInteractive technical support for now. Some people may also have noticed that the storyline page in theNoir section has question marks where the pictures of characters shouldbe. This is because. Er, I haven't actually got round to puttingpictures of the characters in yet. Honest.cough.13th July 1999I've now created a hint file for Discworld Noir - to get it. It's in rough textformat and will be tidied up, and a walkthrough added, when I've gotthe time (I'm kind of busy at the moment, holding down a full-time joband doing other bits and bats).9th July 1999Noir has at last been released - in the UK at least - I'm workingon some hints, containing solutions to specific problems, which arenearly completed and should be up this Monday.

A walkthrough willfollow about a week later.22nd June 1999In a strange deja vu moment, the release of Noir has been put backa week (or two, depending upon which shops you ask) to July 2nd or Julythe 9th. But it has mastered. Honest. And on another note, when Noir finally does surface, I'm planningon putting up hints in both hint-o-matic and text format on the pages, with a walkthrough to follow a week or so later. I'd appreciated ifpeople read these before mailing me as I now have a full time payingjob and other things to do so I have less time to spend answering gamequestions.10th June 1999Discworld Noir has finally mastered. It should be released on thePC on the 25th of June in the US and UK, and probably at the same timein the rest of the world. A Playstation version should be released inSeptember.

I've got my hands on a copy and I'm pretty impressed - it'svery dark, very playable, and well, very Noir.23rd May 1999The release date for Discworld Noir has been put back. Some shopshave the release date as June 25th.

I'd expect it to bereleased some time at the end of June or the beginning of July thoughGT Interactive didn't have a definite release date when I spoke to them.1st May 1999Quite a few people have mailed me saying they're having problemsgetting hold of Discworld and Discworld 2.This is because Psynosis no longer have the rights todistribute Discworld games - the rights are now with GT.This means that they can no longer manufacture DW1 + 2and so no more Psygnosis copies will be hitting the shelves. GTwill probably be re-releasing the first two Discworld games but for nowcopies are scarce, so if you are after one of the games then you'reprobably best off checking second hand games shops. It's a bit of ashame, but that's the way it is.19th Apr 1999I've updated the Noir pages, and I've also managed to get a forumfor free, thanks to Netbabbler. The forum can be found.13th Feb 1999I've removed the links to the Perfect Entertainment, orsome of them at least, since the site is currently under constructionand is out of action for a while. I've also updated the Noir Q&Asection with some more information about Noir - such as the releasedate which is now set to be some time in April.11th Feb 1999I've updated the Noir section a little, and I'vealso removed the link to the Discworld 2 Game Theme from thefiles section as Perfect's web-site is down at the moment andso the link won't work. As soon as I can, I'll get a copy of the themeand put it on these pages so you'll be able to get your hands on itagain.

On another note, if you're having problems getting the Midimusic to play in Netscape Communicator, can you let me know, orlet me know if it works okay? I'm having problems getting it to workunder communicator here though it works okay under previous versions ofCommunicator. Isn't Javascript great?15th Jan 1999I've finally updated the pages - I was a bit snowed under, whatwith a new job and various other things - and I've added a whole newsection about the forthcoming third new Discworld game, DiscworldNoir, set for release in March 1999, which you can get to byclicking or clicking on the Noirbutton in the menu bar to the left. I haven't yet updated the Discworldfaq correspondingly but I will be doing that soon.On another note, I seem to have had dozens of mails from peoplesaying they can't get the ladder from Casanunda, or get the mouseburger, despite following the walkthrough. This is due to a bug in Discworld2 which is fixed by thewhich can be found in the files section of these pages. However, thepatch, once installed, stops the problem from reoccuring, but does notfix it once it's occured, so if you have run into the problem you willunfortunately need to load a previously saved game and try again.

Ifyou're experience problems with Rincewind's camel disappearing in thelast act of the game, there is a saved game included in the patch thatwill fix this.13th Dec 1998I'm working now so I haven't had quite as much time to update thesepages - Discworld Noir is still under development though, and you canfind a preview I've written of it, along with an interview with PerfectEntertainment, atThe Gamesdomain Review no longer available. I'll be updatingthe pages properly soon, with a new section devoted to Discworld Noir.16th August 1998Discworld Noir is still under development and will bepublished by GT, but Perfect have entered into legaldiscussions with Psygnosis, publishers of Discworld 1and Discworld 2 for various reasons.

The first two Discworldgames are still available under Psygnosis's Argentium budgetrange of games, although whether this state of affairs will continueremains to be seen.I've made a couple of minor changes to the pages - I've updated thelinks to Perfect Entertainment's web site which has changedaddress. It is now located at www.perfect-entertainment.co.uk- previously it was located at www.perfect.uk.com, and it canno longer be accessed through this old address. I've also removed therules for Cripple Mr Onion card game from the C.M.O. Section and nowadded a link to Andrew Millard's Cripple Mr Onion rules page, a prettycomprehensive page listing all the rules for the game.

I've neverplayed Cripple Mr Onion myself, and his page is the best place to getspecific information on the card game.16th August 1998Discworld Noir is still under development and will bepublished by GT, but Perfect have entered into legaldiscussions with Psygnosis, publishers of Discworld 1and Discworld 2 for various reasons. So if you can't find the hovel, pleasecheck this picture out before sending me a mail asking for help. Finally, you can now download the 'That's Death' song fromDiscworld 2 in mpeg-3 format from the files section.

Walkthrough

You'll need anMP-3 player like to listen to it. 16th February 1998Perfect have confirmed that there is a third Discworld gamein development, called Discworld Noir.It pays homage tofilm noir, and is a much darker game than previous offerings. TerryPratchett is apparently happy with the story, and the dialog iscurrently being written.

Discworld Noir will follow the adventures ofLewton, an ex-watchman and the Discworld's first Private Investigator,as he investigates his way through the Disc's seedy underworld. The game will be more serious in tone than previous offerings, although there will be an element of humour present in the games. Thegame will parody many well known noir films and 40s movies, and willalso include a full music score and several recorded songs. Thelocations will be dark, cinematic and moody, and feature real shadows.Unlike the previous two games, Discworld Noir will use a 3D interfaceallowing players to guide Lewton around, as they collect clues andtrack down suspects in order to crack the case. Discworld Noir shouldbe released on PC-CDROM during Spring 1999.28th January 1998Discworld 2 is going cheap - in the UK atleast, where it has been released on Psygnosis' Argentiumrange.

You can pick it up for between £14.99 and £9.99 - itdepends where you shop.Dave Budd has created a program that lets you play Cripple MrOnion again your computer - you can find a link to it on the page. Finally, the Hint-o-Matic Javascript help database now works with InternetExplorer 4.0. But it won't yet work with the Opera webbrowser - I'll try and fix the problem. 18th January 1998Bad news for Mac-owning Discworld fans - Psygnosisare no longer converting their titles to the Mac, so it'sunlikely there'll be a Mac version of Discworld 2.They're also no longer distributing the Mac version of Discworld1, so it's doubtful Mac owners will able to get hold of acopy.

Discworld Download

I was checking old threads, a little more than a week, hopefully you'll see this.Discworld is a DOS game, which is where the error comes from. It's trying to allocate memory in a way that no operating systems allows anymore. Windows runs a very different copy of DOS (the command prompt), for convenience only, so DOS games do not run.The solution is to get DOSBox (it's reputable and so on. Very well known piece of software, you can take the word of an internet stranger for it:) ). It imitate a DOS computer of sort, and allows to run DOS games on modern operating systems:(the 'Windows 0.74 Win32 installer' link will be your best bet, and easier too as it is an installer)Your Discworld game executable need to be run from within DOSBox.

Here is a Basic Setup guide for DOSBox:Basically, you'll have to type some commands, but they are well explained. My suggestion? Do it to learn if you want, and want to play right now, but reputable sites like Good Old Games (gog.com), that sells old games prepackaged with this method for cheap, or even Steam, will release the old Discworld games in an easy to install form. It's requested a lot on gog.com, it might happen.

Hi, I'm not that good at computers either, so I haven't found a proper solution. I know sometimes games and programs have two different versions corresponding to the different versions of windows: 32 bits and 64 bits.So I guess you could try other links, hoping they are compatible with windows 32 bits. I have a 64 bits one, so I can't test by myself.Other links:Discworld:Discworld 2:Discworld Noir:Note that I haven't tried all those links, so I'm not a 100% sure they are safe. Good luck!. Don't give up hope! I know that somewhere out in the interwebs there is a fully functional.iso copy floating about. When I downloaded it a few years ago I was using Piratebay and Demonoid quite exclusively so there's somewhere to start looking. On the off chance that it's still floating around on my hard drive somewhere, I'll take a look later this evening and report back. Or if anyone knows how to rip a PAL PSOne game to a computer I could make a copy.Edit: Sad to say I can't find the.iso file.
