You need smtp for what? You don't need actually AD for smtp to work.if you need a collaboration service you might consider something more robuste like exchange.

Thank you everyone for your help. What I figured out is that it might be some kind of loopback issue or something of the sort, as I am able to send mail to other domains.I am able to ping the mail server, with the external address, but I cannot telnet to it. I can telnet using the internal address and send a message using SMTP commands with no problem.If I telnet to my local smtp and try to send mail, it gets stuck in my que, trying to send to my own domain.I dont know if that makes sense to anyone, but that is my problem.any help would be greatly appreciated.
